I've also heard that SH5 doesn't really work with mods too well if you get it on Steam. I've heard that SH5 is a bit of a buggy mess in it's vanilla state and that there's a mod called TWOS which generally fixes that. You also only have the Type VII uboat but as the campaign progresses you. SH5 gets shit on a lot because it has a weak crew management system and the campaign is broken up into parts instead of being continuous. The damage model for the ships is great also. Sub interior with attached gameplay/purpose, rather than just a museum piece I really enjoy SH5 with the WOS mod, the clouds and weather still look great to this day. Plenty of depth in the guise of accurate world/shipping simulations, missions/sandbox, customisation/progression After finding out SH5 existed I'm now curious if that's the experience I'm looking for, which is: However it's still being developed and it isn't quite as deep of an experience as I'd like just yet. So I've been playing that for the last few days and I've been really enjoying it. A sub sim, where you can explore the whole sub?! Awesome. I sort of forgot about the genre until I saw the game UBOAT which brought back the same wonder those older sub games gave me. I also didn't like how you couldn't explore the whole sub, but rather you'd teleport from point to point. I played my first sub game ( SH & Dangerous Waters) when I was a little kid and remember that I quite frankly couldn't hit shit it was too complicated for me at that age.
